DAUGHTERS OF THE FUTURE was chosen from 95 ensembles from all over Germany as one of 15 productions for the interim selection of the Theatertreffen der Jugend in Berlin.

“I want to see the world, to die for. The northern lights, the oceans. Learn to sail. Be a carefree kid again. Absolutely see the night sky in a place with zero light pollution, maybe have a telescope with me. I want to dissolve my passion into art for the heck of it. Be in the flow. I want to listen to my inner voice to the death. I want to stop worrying about what others think of me, to the death. Just be. Just be angry. Loudly angry.”
It is the calm before the storm. The largest fleet in the history of war, with its thousand ships and armies from all over Greece, is stranded in the harbor of Aulis. A calm that lasts for weeks paralyzes their sails, so that their departure for Troy, where King Agamemnon wants to wage war, comes to a standstill.
Unrest spreads, and to make the gods favorable, a sacrifice is demanded: His daughter Iphigenia is to die. When Iphigenia realizes her fate, she does not resist, but welcomes her own death.
Together with a chorus of young people, waltraud900 questions the material from today’s perspective and reinvents Iphigenia’s story. Is Iphigenia a heroine? For which sacrifices are the daughters of the future no longer available? Is it even possible to resist the family? And what are we standing up for?
